Support structure photovoltaic solar panel

Project objective

The objective of the project is the support of 4,000 photovoltaic modules on a light structure, able to withstand corrosion and ultraviolet rays under the CTE (technical building code) regulations.

Product development

The main challenge of the project has been to obtain a support structure for a thermoplastic photovoltaic module, without mechanical fixation to roofs (it maintains the guarantees of the roof constructor against water leaks), and to replace traditional materials such as steel and aluminum, without loss of performance both at the level of traction and compression.

Phases of the project:

  • Conceptual design of structure and assembly.
  • Design geometry.
  • Study and tests most suited to thermoplastic.
  • Analysis of aging and traction in thermoplastics laboratory.
  • Tooling design and injection molds.
  • Manufacture of injection molds.
  • Analysis of aging and traction thermoplastic elements.
  • PPreproduction validation.
  • Series production.

Solution for photovoltaic installations near saline or humid environments where they can be compromised by corrosion performance of steel or aluminum, and no perforations may be performed to fix the structure to the deck.
