Runner channels in injection molds

In Rdiplastics we carry out the design engineering of the injection molds paying special attention to the runner channels of the molds

The ruuner itself is a component of the injected piece but is not part of the piece.
• The runner channels are where the injected material circulates.
• The section of the channel is the point where it joins the mold cavity and that we will call the injection mold entrance.

At the moment of designing the mold it is important to optimize the runner channels so that the path of the material to be injected is as short as possible and thus avoid pressure or heat losses that have their influence on:
• Manufacturing costs of the plastic part.
• Properties of the injected piece.
• Tolerances of plastic parts.
• The joints of the injected parts.
• Tensions that occur in the injected materials.

CLASSIFICATION OF THE COLADAS IN INJECTION MOLDS

The most common types of castings that we can find in plastic injection are grouped in:
• Cold casting systems used for thick wall parts and transformation of materials that have a high viscosity.
• Hot runner systems that are used for the injection without melting of thermoplastic parts.
